[sticky entry] Sticky: Questions for Mods?

Our current mods are [personal profile] bookblather  and [personal profile] silvercat17

If you have a question (about how [community profile] rainbowfic  works, for example), DMing one of them or posting it in [community profile] rainbowlounge  is likely the fastest way to get an answer. There are Questions and Answers on pages of [community profile] rainbowlists  to help you out, but we'd be glad to clear anything up for you. You can also find our discord and tumblr on the Introductions post in RainbowFic if you'd like to ask there.

Questions pertinent to the community at large will be added to appropriate pages and we appreciate feedback on ways to improve.

Mod intro

Hi. I'm [personal profile] silvercat17, aka Silver. I'm 41, in real life I'm a graphic designer, and I have way too many hobbies, including writing, drawing, constructed languages, and a whole ton of different crafts. ADHD is a pain, y'all.

I write smut as Randi D. Bugger. I get distracted from writing by worldbuilding and character design, and from drawing by everything else. My oldest fandom is Thundercats (the 1980s one) and the majority of my constructed languages are set in that world, although I also use them in other stories. I mostly write original fic because that way I don't have to worry about canon. I like superheroes and villains a lot.

I'm nonbinary and genderqueer and use they/them or e/em. I also run [community profile] justcreate  here and I'm on tumblr as wingedtyger.

How

Good evening, writers!

Rainbowfic is four years old today!

In honor of this anniversary, we thought we'd take the time to ask you how you think we're doing. Are you comfortable in the community? Do you enjoy the challenges? Is there anything you'd like to see us doing differently, or not doing at all? Any other suggestions or comments?

Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!

As always, if you prefer to leave a screened comment, you can do so at our Dial-a-Mod post. Or, for (likely) faster service, you can also PM one of the mods.

(To the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star)

Writers, poets, gather 'round
There's a new mod within our town
Nikki had to take her leave
And though it is hard to believe
I will take her place, you see
Below is a bit more 'bout me.

Hi. I'm Geena. I'm the new mod. I'll basically just be picking up whatever needs doing, helping out when the others need it. If you have any questions or concerns, you can always email me at takenhawkeye at yahoo.com or PM my personal journal (which would be [personal profile] geena).

Um, about me? I'm 25. married to [personal profile] subluxate, I love to write original fiction as well as fanfic, and I read a lot. Also a huge history nerd and an even bigger Holmes nerd.

Anyway, hello there! Look forward to getting to know everyone even better than I already do.

Dial-A-Mod

If, for some reason, you can't get ahold of a mod via IM or otherwise and have an issue, question, etc., please feel free to leave a comment here. They are screened for the time being, but if the question is pertinent to members at large (about how [community profile] rainbowfic works, for example), we'll unscreen once answered so others can see it and perhaps have their questions answered.

For reference, you can try IMing Kat at tigerkat245, Kelly at subluxating, or Sara at WLiialover88; these are all on AIM, or you can send a PM. You can also contact Geena at takenhawkeye @ yahoo.com.

Getting To Know You: Kat!

Hi!

I'm [personal profile] bookblather, but you can call me Kat. I am friendly mod the fourth! I've modded a number of communities before, mostly RP communities, and I look forward to modding this one.

I write because I can't not, because there are all these characters running around in my head demanding that I tell their stories, and it would just be rude to turn them down. A community is more or less essential to me; people to talk to and complain about characters with and bounce ideas off. It's my greatest hope that [community profile] rainbowfic will become a community like that. I'll do my best to foster it.

Other random facts: I'm 23, I'm in graduate school for library sciences, I love horses and nail polish and books. I read a lot. I mean, a lot. I love even more to natter on at great length about things that interest me. Even more than that, I love making friends and talking to people. If you want to contact me for any reason at all, even just to say hi, my email is tigerkat24@gmail.com, and my IM name is tigerkat245. Alternately, you can PM me through this account, or just leave me a note on any of my entries. I'm usually online, and will strive to get back to you as quickly as possible.

Hello, all!

I'm [personal profile] sarcasticsra, but feel free to call me Sara. I've co-modded a few comms around LJ, mostly fan fiction-related, and I enjoy it. It's fun to be part of a community.

Personally, I love to write, both fan fiction and original fiction, and I love meeting other people who also love to write, especially if it means we can geek out about writing together. I hope this community fosters plenty of fun, friendships, and inspiration. That's the kind of environment I find most conducive to productivity, so I think it's helpful.

I'm 23 (actually just today, as I write this!) and live in Toledo, Ohio. Other than writing, I love animals, reading, and rambling geekily about TV shows (especially Doctor Who.) I want to be an approachable mod—if you're not sure about a rule or a list or have a question about anything, my motto is, "When in doubt, ask." I'm online a great deal, so chances are that I'll be available to quickly answer. If you need to contact me, a PM works, or you can find me on AIM: I'm WLiiAlover88.

I think that should cover it. Have fun!

Greetings!

I'm [personal profile] subluxate, better known as Kelly, one of your friendly local mods. I was on LJ beginning in 2002, and I started modding there in about 2005. Most communities I've run have been fanfiction-related; it's nice to jump into modding an original fiction community.

My personal goal around here is to write a lot and to have fun, and I want you to all do the same. I like a community of creative people to have continuing freedom to stay creative; to that end, if there's anything I can do to increase that freedom or to encourage creativity, please do let me know.

A bit about me: I'm 26, I'm married to [personal profile] geena, and [personal profile] sarcasticsra officiated the ceremony. My preferred pronoun is "they". I think I'm a fair mod; if my temper rises, I step back until I've cooled down, and I try to check in with other mods when discussing a problem with a member. I think that's one of the best ways to keep a community running well.

I value a community actually being a community. I want everyone to feel welcome here. I'm aware that smaller groups tend to form if communities get large, but I don't think it's cliquish, just a natural evolution of the community.

If there are any problems at all, feel absolutely free to PM me. You can also catch me on AIM at subluxating; I'm not always on it, but it should give me any messages you send if I'm offline. Still, a PM is your best bet, as I'll generally see it sooner than an offline IM.
